An Election Brewing
The federal budget has been proclaimed and the opposition has predictably poored scorn on it.
Mr. Rudd does not seem to have been given the bounce from it he may have hoped and he is still being roundly criticised for his abandoning of the government's proposes Emissions Trading Scheme. Having trumpeted so loudly that this was the great moral challenge of our time and then to have been so critical of the opposition for not embracing it - nay it was an act of political cowardice to do so, he then so glibly walked away from it himself.
Recycle - Rekindle
I have just recently finished reading a book about "recycling" in a general sense. The book's title, "The Same Ax, Twice" suggests an interesting conundrum. If the owner of an ax ( or axe) replaces the handle twice and the ax head once in his lifetime, is it the same ax?
A Fillip For the Soul
Feeling a tad exhausted after just having pedalled in from Lithgow, against a stiffening breeze, a friendly face approaced the cafe where I was carbohydrate loading and liguid replenishing.
It was none other than Lis Bastian, who many will know from the various presentations she has given in Bathurst around the topic of Climate Change. Lis is a trainee of Al Gore and has worn out much shoe leather across the length and breadth of the Central West and beyond, imparting her passion and informing and cajoling us to make the effort to stem the tide of global warming.
Bicycle commuting
I don't live far from work and I sometimes work, but I was thinking of getting a bike so that I might ride and also use it to do some light shopping.
Can anyone recommend a suitable bike and what gear I might need to make it enjoyable and also useful for commuting to work and shopping.
Commercial local food producers
I am a fibre and meat producer, but have some good land that I think could lend itself to some sort of horticulture.
Where should I start with meeting up with other local producers and recommendations of horticultural practices and marketing to get me started?
Populate or Perish
During the week just gone, the ABC 7.30 program ran an intriguing series on the topic of population which concluded with a panel of experts from Tim Flannery to people with expertise in business, cities and planning.

Too long between blogs for me - New Year's Resolution number 1. Make my blog regular every week.
I have to admire Tracy who gets her newspaper article written on time every week for publication in the Advocate. It is an incredibly valuable service for the community and for BCCAN. I know this blog is not in the same category in terms of readership but if I hope to attract readers and more particularly, regular visistors to the BCCAN website, then some sort of consistencey is essential.
There - I have given myself a good talking too so we shall see.
