The next Cafe Chew (August) will be devoted entirely to the subject of water.

It is a hot topic locally and will be nationally too with the Murray Darling Water Management Plan due in the next few weeks and the interest groups are lining up to stake their claims.

I have attached a couple of documents to help those who are interested become better informed so that our discussion can be more fruitful.

Bathurstians have their chance to participate in the National Tree Planting Day at Boundary Road reserve.

I have just recently finished reading a book about "recycling" in a general sense. The book's title, "The Same Ax, Twice" suggests an interesting conundrum. If the owner of an ax ( or axe) replaces the handle twice and the ax head once in his lifetime, is it the same ax?

Here is an opportunity to ask questions make comments and build a vibrant community albeit virtual for some of the time at least. Interested people right through our region are free to add a topic and comment on others topics and comments.
Over time this could be a rich resource and make links between schools and individuals which might be difficult via other means.

I have just spent most of my weekend in the garden.
One of the many wonderful experiences in the garden is recycling the weeds and old plants back into a valuable resource for new growth and soil enhancement.

During the week just gone, the ABC 7.30 program ran an intriguing series on the topic of population which concluded with a panel of experts from Tim Flannery to people with expertise in business, cities and planning.

Last week I attended Tech Trade 09 at the Wagga Wagga campus of CSU and as the theme of this conference was sustainability, I thought it was worth reporting on here and passing on some of the lessons being learned by CSU which are worth noting in our community too.
Issues which were covered included building, energy efficiency, renewable energy sytems, community awareness  , carbon polution abatement, food production, biodiversity, transport systems and water conservation.
