Professor Deli Chen of the Melbourne School of Land and Environment, University of Melbourne, will present a seminar titled "What about greenhouse gases (N2O, NH3 and CH4) from agriculture? Techniques and applications". The seminar will take place in the seminar room of the National Wine & Grape Industry Centre from 2 – 3 PM on Tuesday, February 23.

Prof. Chen is the leader of the research group in soil water, nutrients and greenhouse gas dynamics at the Melbourne School of Land and Environment and Deputy Director of the Australia and China Joint Centre on Water Research.

We are very fortunate to have Prof. Chen visit the NWGIC because he has 20 years of research experience in water and nitrogen dynamics in plant-soil systems, GIS based agro-ecosystem modeling and decision support systems for optimal irrigation and N fertilizer management, the measurement and modeling of greenhouse gases emissions from intensive agriculture and the impact of climate on agro-ecosystem. Over the last ten years Prof. Chen has been awarded more than $10 million for research projects (mostly from competitive grants) from ACIAR, ARC, MLA, GRDC, AGO/DCC, DAFF and industry funding bodies. He is author/co-author of 108 peer-reviewed journal publications and 23 peer-reviewed conference or special publications.
