Self-drive tour of sustainable homes & buildings September 11, 2011 2-4pm
Bathurst Community Climate Action Network applauds the opening of Bathurst Regional Council’s sustainable lifestyle house this Sunday and the open day from 10am to 4pm at 17 McGirr Street, Llanarth.

To coincide with this, BCCAN has devised a self-drive tour of other sustainable buildings in the area. Between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday, September 11, a BCCAN member will be on hand at each location to show visitors the green features of each building.

The properties available for inspection include the new Central West Community College building in Howick Street; a straw bale house at Wallinga; and two sustainable homes at Raglan.

The addresses are:

  • Central West Community College 227 Howick Street, Bathurst
  • Straw bale house 299 Eleven Mile Drive Wallinga
  • Three homes designed by Jim Lavis in Eugenie Street, Raglan Go to 18 Eugenie Street, Raglan (pictured above) - the other homes are visible from there
  • Home designed by Jim Lavis in Godfrey Street 37 Godfrey Street, Raglan

Meetings
The Buildings and Urban Planning APT meets on the of the first Tuesday of the month at 5pm in conjunction with the Energy APT, in the CSU Education staff room, Allen House ground floor.

The aim of the Buildings and Urban Planning Action Planning Team is to increase construction of buildings with a low environmental impact.
Buildings are a major contributor to greenhouse gas production.
BCCAN congratulates Bathurst Regional Council on its decision to build a sustainable home in Bathurst and looks forward to working with council on this exciting project.
